One of Australia’s most enigmatic artists, Owen Rabbit, has just delivered his highly-anticipated debut EP ‘One’ - a self-produced and mixed effort recorded at his home studio in Preston, Victoria. Since the release of his 2015 breakthrough track ‘Holy Holy’, the Melbourne-based musician has carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting and unpredictable song-writer / producers currently releasing music.
‘One’ features lead single ‘Oh My God’, six new tracks and a remix of his 2015 standout single ‘Denny’s’. The eclectic record combines themes of jazz, soul, pop and experimental-electronica, melding organic and electronic instrumentation. Rabbit samples obscure sounds including rubbish, toys, trinkets and anything he can get his hands on.
Rabbit describes the creative process behind the record –
“One was recorded at my house in Melbourne. I played all the instruments and did all the production. I wanted to make a record that covered a lot of ground. There's pop songs, ambience, instrumentals, happy moments, sad moments. I wanted to get as much out of my gear as I could.”
Owen Rabbit’s past singles have received overwhelming support via worldwide blogs, radio including BBC1 (UK), triple j (AUS), Apple Music’s Beats 1 with Ellie Goulding and featured on Spotify’s global and local playlists ‘New Music Friday’, ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Weekend Buzz’. The producer has also toured through USA, UK, Europe and Australia where he has completed national tours alongside SAFIA, Boo Seeka, JOY. and A.D.K.O.B.
